Bill Quay Music and singing
We believe that music and singing are wonderful gifts which enrich everyone’s life, whether from a faith perspective or not. We have an amazing team of singers and musicians who help to share music and singing to benefit the local community. These sessions are all led by Jane Kitson
Marigold Music and Memories
We work in partnership with Edberts House and Marigold Court to provide community singing on Monday afternoons in term time. Based in the lounge at Marigold Court (Old Fold, Gateshead, NE10 0DZ) we sing from 1.30pm-2.30pm and then chat and socialise together afterwards over refreshments. Admission is free and anyone is welcome to attend – you don’t have to be a resident of Marigold Court. This singing session is particularly suitable for older members of our community, including anyone who might be experiencing memory or speech challenges.
Bill Quay music-makers
Summer 2024 saw our first session of music-making for young people in the church, where a group of fantastic young folk came together to sing and have fun with music. We’ll be developing our youth music and singing programme in 2024-25, providing opportunities to play instruments as well as sing – watch this space for more information or contact our music team.
Bill Quay Singers
The Bill Quay Singers meet at Bill Quay Community Church on Thursday evenings in term time, 7.30-9pm. This is a Ladies Choir, and you don’t have to audition, read music or have any
singing experience to join – you just need to love to sing! There is the option of using sheet music for some of the songs for those who prefer that, but the emphasis is very much on the joy
of singing. Some of the songs involve singing in parts, while others are sung in unison. There are concerts at Christmas and in the summer, as well as opportunities to socialise together in
between. This is a warm and welcoming group of ladies, and you can expect lots of conversation and laughter each week alongside the lovely singing. Admission is £3.50 per session, payable by cash or card.
